Rough Out 2009

Hey Gang,

I hope you all enjoyed the Rough Out camping trip to Sunset beach the past weekend. I got a real kick out of watching the boy charging off in the wrong direction as they attempted to find the next station on the treasure hunt. The Sand Castle "competition" was scene of mass creativity and I would hazard a guess, the boys enjoyed chasing the judge into the ocean more than anything else :)) Thanks Steve.

I want to give a thanks to the Y Service Club for putting on a pancake breakfast for us at the campsite and thank all the individual Dads who helped put on the Treasure Hunt, Sand Castle competition, Lunch, Night Hike, ceremony and reserving the sites back in March. Bula!

Next Up: Movie Night !

A New Year

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself as the new Expedition Navigator for the NorthStar YMCA Adventure Club. I've been involved in the program for 5 years and hopefully I am up to the task of serving you well.

Over the preceding years, I've discovered this program has given me the opportunity for genuine one-on-one time with my son or daughter. The one-on-ones are some times quiet as we drive to an event or very exciting as spend a night at a museum. I also found the program as a great learning experience as a father. I can learn from other Dads as they guide their kids though the challenges and triumphs or simply learn from experience the various outings provide. Finally, I find myself better connected with common challenges that local families, schools and community are having.

This program has the potential of offering all these things. Hopefully, I can do a good job continuing this tradition. I am certainly going to put my mind to it and invite you to join me in this effort to continue the great experience this program offers.

I'll be using this blog spot throughout the year to keep the families and greater members to reflect on our recent activities.

Let me give a big Bula to you all and welcome you to a new year ...

Bula !

It now time to prepare for the Carnival (Sept 13) and the RoughOut (Oct 10).
